The American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society offers free information to the world at large. On their website, they have numerous information such as the various types of cancer, treatment choices, by what means to determine treatment choices, coping with side effects, managing financial difficulties as well as emotional assistance. They offer information to aid individuals from the onset of the diagnosis to recovery. I would recommend the treatment and support services because this program will help my colleague and their family as they thrive through their worries and anxieties about cancer and its treatment, answers questions and give them awareness of what to expect from the people and services that are available to help them cope with cancer (Cancer.org, 2017).
Factors that contribute to the yearly incidence and mortality rated of various cancers in Americans are age, ethnicity, cigarettes, obesity, prolonged hormones use, certain dietary factors, physical inactivity and air pollution. According to university research, Obesity has been linked to increased risk of cancer and Tars and nicotine in a cigarette are cancer promoters. The smoke-free policy developed by an International Agency for Research in cancer objective is to eradicate second-hand smoke exposure and to improve health outcome. To date, passivity with indoor smoking prohibitions in worksites, bars, restaurants and other public places has mostly been high, with some exceptions. Over time, this policy would intensely decrease smoking rates and perhaps lead to increase in noncombustible nicotine delivery by consumers (Hyland, Barnoya and Corral, 2017).
The research program funded by The American Cancer Society is survivorship and quality of life research. This program focuses on promoting the physical, emotional and social health of cancer survivors and their caregivers to achieve the ACS goal of improving their quality of life.It investigates the quality of life and adjustment of the survivors and their caregivers. The impact this research will have on the prevention or treatment of cancer is that understanding the health related need of the survivor will help you better understand the problem they face. For example, some cancers are triggered by the nature of the job so, therefore, it will be unfair for the survivor to go back to the same job.
