1. Review the rules and regulations of the Florida Board of Nursing related to clinical training (Links to an external site.). Assess the academic organization where you are performing your practicum experience in relation to how they fulfill these requirements.
2. Review the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 2002 legislation (Links to an external site.) as it relates to students’ rights. What rights are afforded to students based on this legislation? What does this mean for faculty and Schools of Nursing?
3. What are your thoughts about carrying professional liability insurance as a nursing faculty member?
4. Bioethical standards that relate to nursing practice include autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice (fairness), veracity, fidelity, confidentiality, and respect for human dignity. Nurse educators must also consider these standards as they relate to the conduct of educational experiences for students. Consider each one of these standards and discuss how it might relate to a teacher/student clinical learning experience, student/patient experience, student/student interaction. How do the above standards relate to academic dishonesty, especially in clinical experiences?
