Academic and Professional Resources and Strategies for the MSN Nurse Student and the Postgraduate Qualified MSN Nurse Practitioner
There are many academic resources and strategies that could be applied to the MSN program for the benefit of the postgraduate nurse student. One of these resources is the NursingCAS. This is an application service that is available online and can be accessed by those wishing to pursue the MSN program from universities within the United States (Education USA, n.d.). Given that many of the potential students interested in the MSN program are already registered nurses working and with families, this resource is crucial as they can make an application from their workplace or from the comfort of their homes. Another useful strategy to MSN students is attendance of professional conferences that are normally organised annually by professional nursing bodies (Bond, n.d.). This is because in these forums the MSN student gets to be exposed to the experiences of senior professional colleagues which then shape their future career prospects. Lastly, the other resources of importance to the MSN program students are reputable nursing journals that contain peer-reviewed articles (Bond, n.d.). These help widen the knowledge base of the MSN students.
As for professional resources and strategies that can help the practicing MSN graduate, some of the most important are continuous education programs (NACNS, 2020). These help the advanced nurse keep abreast with the latest developments in her area of expertise. The other professional resource comprises of the numerous nursing organizations. There are over one hundred such organizations in the US, including the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the National League for Nursing (NLN). These guarantee a united voice for nurses able to influence policy at the political level (Schneider, 2015). Lastly, nurse incentives for upskilling and re-skilling such as tuition funding are the other resource for MSN postgraduate nurse professionals (Lagasse, 2019). All these resources directly benefit the student and the professional, as explained above. NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 2: Academic Resources and Strategies
