In referencing type 1 and type 2 diabetes, Arabic numerals are used. This nomenclature changed from using Roman numerals (type I and type II) in 1995. Please refer to textbook (Arcangelo & Peterson) chapter 45 (third edition) and chapter 46 (fourth edition) to view the use of the terms type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes within the chapter.
