Caring and Ethics in Your Practice

Health assessments help in the identification of specific patient needs. In order to encourage adherence to treatment plans, several caring techniques can be employed for successful health assessment. The types of caring techniques include imparting knowledge to the patient. This involves the distribution of information within the medical chain, access to health education on the hospitals site as well as holding health-based discussions between nurses, physicians, pharmacists and also patients (Makoul et al., 2018). Additionally, simplification of regimen characteristics strategy is effective in the adjustment of dosage, amount, frequency and timing as well as promotes the alignment of the patient’s activities with their daily lives (Atreja, Bellam & Levy, 2015). The family and patient communication technique on the other hand facilitates the provision of direct and clear messages as well as listening, inclusion of patients in decision-making, supports counselling, family support and home visits together with reminding the patient of the scheduled appointment and enhancing convenient care. Adherence to evaluation technique is also associated with self-reports while leaving bias tailors education to the understanding level of the patient. Modification of patient beliefs strategy also facilitates the assessment of perceived barriers, severity, benefits and susceptibility (Miller, 2016). Caring and Ethics in Your Practice Essay.

During my practice at the County hospital, I encountered a scenario that forced me to encourage patient adherence to health promotion activity. In this case, the patient was an opioid addict whose treatment demanded a combination of medication with counselling therapy (Miller, 2016). However, the patient did not want to attend the mental therapy sessions since he felt ashamed of the consequences of his addictive behaviors. Through patient and family communication strategy, I was able to encourage him to attend anonymous addiction groups for counselling and sharing of experiences (McConnell, Birkett & Mustanski, 2016). The family reminded him of the scheduled appointments as they received email reminders from the therapist. Moreover, the strategy enhanced home visits to assess the progress of the patient which was accompanied by family counselling and social support. This enhanced convenience of care and also encouraged informed decision making that involved the patient, the counsellor, family members and the healthcare providers. As such, a positive patient outcome was achieved from the formulation of a more effective intervention. Caring and Ethics in Your Practice Essay.
