Program Overview
Missouri first mutual aid agreement in legislative was in 1990, this began as a statewide fire response mutual aid agreement. Instead of each individual department belonging to a certain town or jurisdiction they are all considered to be a part of Missouri Fire Mutual Aid System. The system includes all the resources that those fire departments have and their specialized teams such as wildland, hazmat, and rescue. The only separation they have is by split into regions where each is led by a fire-based regional coordinator, regions followed by State Trooper regions. Upon the tested fire service showing success and achievement with mutual aid assistance others followed suit. The agreement later amended to include law enforcement, emergency medical services, and public works.
